The Bay Area Sanitation Story
BAS is a local company run by family. Our service team is an extension of our family. We have successfully been in the sanitation business for over 100 years and understand the critical importance of proper sanitation.
We started out by making sewer pipe in Oakland in 1906. We worked through the Great Depression, helped rebuild San Francisco after the great earthquake, and after the WWII, expanded our business across the country. And now, after 125 years, we have been responsible for millions of feet of sewer pipe installed across the country, always focused on sanitation and the critical role it plays in our national infrastructure.
We expanded to portable sanitation a few years ago because, as we walked job projects and construction sites, we discovered the sad quality standards of the on-site portable sanitation units. We knew we could do better, and your construction team and the festival goer deserved better! We provide quality portable toilet solutions.

Kurt Winter, President
Kurt has been in the sanitation business his whole life, before as a manufacturer and now as a vital service provider. He understands the mission-critical nature of “perfectly clean”. Bay Area Sanitation genuinely cares and the team delivers that standard every day. We are a true family business, run by family. Kurt is obsessed with out-performing the “big boys” and being faster, and the best value in the bay area. He met his wife Lisa at Cal Poly SLO and they have five kids together. (Future BAS team members!)
Daniel Tom, Vice President
Daniel has been in the portable restroom industry since before he graduated from San Jose State University. With 10 years of operations experience, he is focused on providing the best customer service possible with every rental. He was born and raised in San Ramon, where he currently lives with his wife, Celina, and dog, Ella. In his free time he enjoys hiking, traveling, and snowboarding.
