Most standard rentals run about $170–$225, covering up to 28 days (see current prices). The final price depends on the unit type, how many units you need, how long you keep them and how often they’re serviced. Restroom trailers are priced by quote. See what a Bay Area porta potty rental costs for the full breakdown.
A common planning number is one unit per 50 guests for an event of about four hours. Add more for longer events, when alcohol is served, or when you expect a crowd at one time, like at intermission. Add hand wash stations wherever food is served. Tell us your headcount and hours when you request a quote and we’ll recommend a count.
In California, Cal/OSHA requires at least one toilet for every 20 employees of each sex. With fewer than five employees, one single-user all-gender unit is enough (Title 8 §1526). You also need one washing station for every 20 employees (§1527). Our OSHA and Cal/OSHA guide walks through the math. See construction rentals.
A standard porta potty is a single self-contained stall with a toilet, a urinal, ventilation and hand sanitizer. A luxury restroom trailer has several stalls with flushing toilets, sinks and air conditioning. It needs a water source and power on site. Trailers are popular for weddings and corporate events.
Standard: toilet, urinal, ventilation and hand sanitizer. Deluxe flushable: adds a hands-free foot-pump flush, a mirror and an interior sink. ADA: extra interior space, handrails and a ground-level entry. Hand wash station: foot pumps, soap and paper towels. Restroom trailers: multiple stalls, flushing toilets, sinks and air conditioning.
Construction rentals include weekly service, and they’re billed every 28 days. Each service visit pumps the tank, cleans the unit and restocks paper and sanitizer. Service happens on weekdays. If a service day falls on a holiday or is missed because of weather, it moves to the next business day. Event rentals are delivered clean and ready to use; servicing during the event is optional.
Yes. Our ADA restroom has extra interior space, handrails and a ground-level entry. Under the ADA standards, where portable toilets are grouped in a cluster for the public, at least 5% of each cluster, and never fewer than one, must be accessible. Units used only by construction workers are exempt (2010 ADA Standards).
For events, book at least one week ahead, and earlier for big events or summer weekends. For construction, we need two business days’ notice for delivery and for pickup. Last-minute orders are sometimes possible, but availability isn’t guaranteed. Call us and we’ll tell you what’s open.
We deliver Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM. We can’t guarantee an exact time, but the driver will call ahead. Schedule delivery for the day before you need the unit. We place units in front of the property, no more than 25 feet from the street, and not in backyards.
Yes. Event rentals are a flat rate for up to a week, so a one-day party and a weekend event are priced the same way. Event rentals take a 50% deposit when you order, with the balance due seven days before delivery. Cancel more than seven days out for a full refund. Between seven days and two business days out you get 50% back, and with less than two business days’ notice there’s no refund. Weather isn’t grounds for a refund. Full details are in our terms.
On private property, usually not. On a public sidewalk or street, usually yes, and the renter gets the permit. In San Francisco, the permit comes from SF Public Works, not SFMTA: a Temporary Occupancy permit for short-term placements or a Street Space permit for construction. Oakland uses an Obstruction Permit, and San José requires an encroachment permit. We can tell you where to start for your city.
On California construction sites, yes: one washing station for every 20 employees (Cal/OSHA §1527). For events that serve food, your county health department may require them as part of your event permit, so check with them. Our hand wash station has foot pumps, soap and paper towels.
The service truck pumps the holding tank and hauls the waste to a permitted disposal facility. It’s never dumped on site or into a storm drain.
Each unit gets a deodorizing liquid in the tank and has a roof vent that pulls air out of the cabin. Regular servicing matters most. If you can, place units in shade and away from food and seating areas, especially in hot weather.
It needs firm, level ground and a clear path for our delivery truck. Tell us about steep driveways, narrow streets, gates or limited parking when you book so we can plan the delivery.
We serve the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Santa Clara, San Mateo and Marin counties, plus nearby Solano County and Tracy and Mountain House. Find your city on our Bay Area service area page.
